TRIP OP THE VOLUNTEERS.
The Southern riflemen who have been competing in the colonial shooting-match, were this afternoon treated to a trip in the Luna, to Sir George Grey's beautiful Island of Kawau. Ihe Volunteer band accompanied them from the Drill-shed to the wharf, playing as usual, " 'Tis long since last we met, and wo may not meet again ; I've struggled to forget, but the struggle is in vain." The fine old tune, though so familiar to Auckland streets, collected a great crowd, who thronged the wharf to do honour to the gallant Southerners. After being received at Hawaii with the hospitalities usually there dispensed, the Luna will steam away, during the night, to the Thames, where the challenge match with the Thames Yoluuteers will take place, tomorrow or next day.
