The last prize on the programme was the shooting for a £10 cup, with the Martini Henri rifle. Distances, 800, 1000, and 400 yards. Al this latter range, each man to fire as rapidly as possible for three minutes. The five men selected to fire in the match were those who made the highest score in the match between the North and South. The following is the result of the shooting with the Martini Henri. The last column points out the hits on the target at the 400 yards range : —

Christie was therefore declared the winner of the cup. A good deal of interest was taken in thi3 match, both at the long ranges and the rapidity firing. At this latter, in the three minutes, Christie fired twenty-six shots ; Greer, twenty-five shots; Gray twenty-five shots; Chamberlain, twenty-four shots; aud Morrow, twenty-six shots. Morrow laboured under a considerable disadvantage at the last range, as it was nearly dark before he began to fire, and the bull's-eye on the target was hai-dly distinguishable. After each man had fired his number of rounds in the three minutes,'the barrel of the rifle -was intensely hot. This match was a very good test of the value of the Martini Henri for rapidity firing. This match brought the Colonial Prize Shooting for the year 1871 to a close, after ten days competition. Not many people were on the ground yesterday to witness the shooting. The following officers • were present:—Colonel Harrington, Majors Tlsdall and Gordon, Lieutenants Whitson and Matthews, Captains Clarke and Carey, Cornet May, and Dr. Hooper. The men returned to town about half-past seven o'clock. It was, we believe, intended to have given some consolation prizes for the Cadets, but on. account of the lateness of the hour, the shooting could not come off yesterday. It will, however, we understand, take place at the Thames,.whether the Southern men will proceed on Wednesday, in order to shoot with ten of the Thames men on the following day.
