The largest and mo3t extraordinary catches of herrings ever known were brought into Lowestoft market on Saturday. They consisted of 15,000 lasts, or 19,800,000—nearly 20,000,000 herrings. The price realised was Is. per 100, being between £7,500 and £8,103. The scene in the market beggared description. — Fishing Gazette.
