POLICE COURT.—Thursday.
(Before W. C. Daldy and J. M. Dargaville, Esqs., Justices.) Drunkenness. —Four persons were punished in the usual manner for this offence. Impounding Act.—P. Kernofcfc, M. Grace, W. A. Clarke, for allowing cattle to stray, were lined each os and costs ;J. Mills, for a second offence, was fined 10s. and costs. — D. Orine wits charged with allowing two sheep to stray at North Shoi'e, and also for preventing the special constable from impounding them.—Mr. Wynn appeared for the defence. —Special constable G-ee deposed to the circumstances of the straying sheep, and called W. Newman, who refused to give evidence until his oxpenses were paid.—The Court adjourned for live minutes, when the expenses, los., having been paid to Mr. Newman, he g-ive his evidence, which showed that the case was a most trumpery one; the sheep apparently having mei'ely run out of the yard and into it again.—The case was dismissed.
