Dittiis*_ENNESS. —Four Europeans and two Maories were punished in the usual manner for drunkenness.
Municipal Police Act. —Emily Foreman was charged with allowing a goat to stray. — Mr. Joy for the defence.—On? the evidence of Luc-y Foremen, a child of eleven years, showing that the.animal had escaped by breaking its rope, the case was dismissed. Laeceny.—John Ross, a little fellow about nine years, was charged by P. H. Hackett,.of the Newmarket Hotel, with having stolen threepence halfpenny from his till. Mr. Bi-oham slated the la.l had admitted the theft, as well as several provious ones. The father appeared, and promised to take care of him, and the child was given up to him. Alleged Per'juhy.—The charge of perjury recently laid by W. McGrcggor Hay, against Henry Lamb Kennedy, and which was dismissed on Wednesday last, was'again brought before Lhe Bench.—Mr. Rees for the prosecution, Mr. MacCormick for the defence, who contended firmely against the practise of permitting a case already adjudicated upon being tried again. The Bench decided on hearjng the evidence, which was given in all the main particulars, the same as in tho former hearing of the case.
