VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
A NUUBKE of Volunteers yesterday proceeded to the butts for the purpose of firing for the district prizes, but the weather was so bad thill they were unable to fire at any but the three hundred yards range. They will resume their iiriug to-day at the other ranges, and we shall publish the full score to-morrow. There was last evening a drill of the Auckland liifle Volunteers, at the Drill-shed, Princes-street. There was but a small attendance. The usual evolutions were gone through, A meeting of the committee of management of the Auckland Rifle Volunteers was held last evening, ab the Drill-shed, C.iptain Dcrrotn in the chair. A number of accounts were passed, and some other business transacted of no public interest. Last evening a meeting of the Auckland Cavalry Volunteers was held at the Drillshed, when it was resolved that a testimonial should be presented to Captain Carey on his retirement from the eoi-ps. It was also resolved that a first-class ball should be given to the Southern Volunteers previous to their departure, and after the general prize-firing to come off next month.
