ARRIVAL OF THE 'GOLDEN ISLE' FROM THE FIJIS .

By the arrival of the schooner Golden Isle, Captain Matzen, at tl;e Bay of Islands, we have receired copies of the Fiji Times to the 28th ult. We make the following extracts :—

The cutter Harriett changed hands last week ; £400 was the inducement, and Mr. Peekham, of Tavinui, the purchaser. The brigantine Magellan Cloud, Captain Mueller, left Auckland on Saturday, 7th inst., and experienced strong N.E. weather and heavy rain up to 13th ; tbenr-e light southerly weather, arriving at the anchorage, Levuka, on Wednesday, 18th.

A day or two ago Thakombau toot it into his head to inflict on various Papalagi subjects certain fines; though the court was open to the public our reporter failed <o understand the drift of the proceedings owing to his defective knowledge of the language. What iho offences were appeared to be best known to his Majesty ; curiously enough, however, the fines were all alike, and consisted in no move nor no less than one bottle of champagne The court was held in Mr. Manton's verandah, and as a great number of offenders were brought before the beach the flow of champagne was something considerable. Much to the surprise of some of the bystanders his Majesty walked away with a firm gait, and in no respect incommoded.

The G-olden Isle left Auckland on the 23rd ultimo, and after a long and tedious trip of twenty-three days, arrived in harbour on Sunday morning. Captain Matzen reports light N.W. weather for the first week, and then a succession of light airs and calms.

The fore-and-aft schooner Zephyr, Captain Haddock, arrived in harbour on Thursday, from a cruise in the New Hebrides, with 24 horses.

The Mission schooner, Jubilee, proceeded to Nai Korkor yesterday, where she will be overhauled.

The Tavinui schooner Coquette, Captain M'Liyor, arrived from tho Solomon and New Hobrides Groups on Wednesday evening, with 61 labourers. She proceeds to Tavinui to-day, and from thence will go on to Sydney for repairs.
