Yesterday morning the members of,«, Artillery Volunteers, to the numb* * fifteen; two men of the Auckland Cavi Volunteers, and thirteen of the Ofcal r Cavalry, proceeded to the Butts at Pen, for the purpose of taking their pavfc j n j,e' colonial carbine firing. Maior Gnwi«ujor Xisdall were present, also Inst* <? Suell and Lieutenant Isaacs. Maior Til « kept the score at the firing point, aud T slructor Snell and Sergeant-Major Haslem l the Butts. Barraclough, P.A.Tr.4O Last evening there was a meeting of the members of the Artillery Volunteers at fort Britomart, after the usual drill, at which matters affecting the interest of the corps »jre discussed. It was resolved that the election of a Lieutenant, iv place of Lieutenant Featon, promoted to Captain, should come off next Tuesday. A meeting of the Auckland Battalion fiiflj Volunteers was held last evening, at the Drillshed, for the purpose of adopting a code of rules and regulations for the guidance of tie corps, such rules now being necessary bj the exigencies of the service. Capt. Derrom wai in the chair, and Capt. Beei acted as secretary. Capts. Clark and Batger were also present, as well as a large number of offices and non-commksioned officers. Aftsr a good deal of discussion the code of regulations drawn up by the committee of management wa3 adopted with trifling alterations. ; Bfj£ ' The monthly inspection of the Nanl Volunteers took Jplaco last evening at Fort Britomart. There was a rery good, »tteaiance, and Captain Guilding was in command, The usual evolutions were creditably gone through; after which the men had a march out headed by the drum and fife band. V f,
