NOTJNCES THE CLAIM VALID.
DUNEDIN. January 4.—Tlie Oamaru election resulted as follows :—Steward, 187 ; MacCassey, 136. —Hie Taieri election resulted thus :—Reid, 197; Tokhie, 125.—Watorhouse, the midwife, has been acquitted.—The opinion of the Archbishop of Canterbury, as expressed to the Primate, is that Dr. Jemier has an. equitable right to the bishopric of Diuiedin, and he considers that should the claim be brought into a Court of law, it will,establish the right.—This opinion is concurred in by the Bishops of Ely, London, Winchester^ Carlisle, and Hereford.—Dr. Jeuner will continue to urge his claims to tlie See.—He intii mates his intention of figlring the question; out to the end.—Archdeacon MaunseH's| motion, which is to the effect that tlie Synod refuses to sanction the appointment, comes on for diicussion on Wednesday.
