THE LATE FIRES.
£500 REWARD OFFERED
By reference to our advertising columns it will be seen that the City Board of Commissioners and the Insurance Companies offer a reward of £500 on conviction of any person or persons concerned in the setting on fire of the kerosene store in Mechanics' Bay, or the Music Hall, and the Government offers a free pardon to any accomplice who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the principal offender or offenders, or any of them, if more than one. We are very glad to sec that the authorities have taken such decided steps in a matter which bears such serious import. If the community is not to be handed over to the mercies of a parcel of ruffians, it is high time that sharp measures be adopted.
