RESIGNATION OF C. F. MITCHELL AS GOLDFIELDS SECRETARY.

A MEETING- of the Provincial Executive was held this morning, and at it a resolution was passed requesting Mr. Mitchell to resign. It is stated that a requisition was presented to the Executive, signed-by Messrs. Sam and Cadman, stating that they would not support the Government should Mr. Mitchell remain in the Executive. The reason alleged is the support given by M~r, Mitchell to the vote for the Mining Board, and his support of the payment of the Provincial Engineer's accounts. On the resolution being handed to him, Mr. Mitchell at onoe resigned his position in the Executive. —[Communicated.]
