PETTY SESSIONS.— Tuesday.
(Present J. O'Neill, Esq., Chairman, R. FPorter, A. X Taylor, H. I). Morpeth. and Joseph May, Ksqs., Justices.) Drunkenness. —J. McQ-owan, J. Coppock, J. Foreman, and Anne Knobbs were punished in the usual manner for drunkenness.
Forgery.—The charge of forgery of a cheque for £4 17s. Od. against. C. Phillips was adjourned till Monday. Impounding Act.—J. M. Lirie, C. Major, J. Grace, J. A. Hicks, .W. South wood, G-. Harris, A. Sanford, were eacli fined 5s and costs for allowing cattle to stray.
Municipal Police Act.—A. L. Swete pleaded guilty to having allowed his chimney in Pitt-street to go afiro, was fined 5s and costn. Jihn M. Gregor was charged with driving a dray in Qnecn-streefc without his name being painted on it, and fined 2s 6d and costs or in default 24 hours imprisonment.
Assault.— "W. Downing appeared to answer the charge of assaulting W. Horan.—No appearance.—This was a boys' squabble. Case dismissed.
