NARROW ESCAPE FROM FIRE.
A narrow escape from fire occurred in Queen-street, on Saturday last. From the particulars we have been able to glean it seems that, a little boy, son of Mr. J. H Asher. managed to get hold of some mate es, and in playing with them set fire to the window curtains in an upstairs room. The fire caught the drapery round the table, and charred the skirting-boards in several planes. The sister of the boy happened to be in an adjoining room, and, smelling fire, ran m and threw a kettle fill of water which she had in her hand over the walls, and pul ed the burning drapery down. If the fire had been unnoticed for a few minutes more, we should probably have had to chronicle an extensive conflagration. Several neighbours were promptly on the spot, and rendered every assistance.
