THIS DAY.
Besides the bills that have reached various stages, in their passage through the Council, we find the following on the notice paper for to-day : —
Mr. Dyer to move, " That a respectful address be presented to his Honor the [Superintendent, requesting him to place upon the Additional Estimates the sum of £194 to meet engagements entered into with the North Shore Wharves Committee, which sum was appropriated for this purpose during Session 25, but was never paid over to those entitled to receive it."
Mr. Philips to move, " That an address be presented to his Honor the Superintendent, requesting him to allow the full amount authorised by the Volunteer Land Act, 1865, to Volunteers who have qualified themselves for certificates, namely:—For five years' £30 ; for each six months' active service, £5."
Mr. Swanson to move, " That a respectful address be presented to his Honor the Superintendent, requesting him to procure and lay before tho Council a return that will show how the Police Force is distributed for duty, by day and by night, in the city and suburbs of Auckland ; such return to specify the beats of the constables, the number of hours on duty, the number of hours off duty, and generally to furnish such information as will show the Council how the whole force was employed on any ordinary day and night last month. The officers and their duties to be distinguished from the men, and their duties and the number of officers and men to be specified."
