THE JAPANESE TROUPE.
Notwithstanding the grand Galatea Moonlight Concert in the Albert Barracks reserve, and the Hon. Elliott Yorko's theatrical company at the Prince of Wales theatre, the City Hall was again a bumper house on Saturday night to our strange visitors from the " Land of the Rising Sun." The house was full; the performances were as bewildering and as thrilling as ever, and the spectators gave expression to their gratification and wonder without reserve. It is not too much to say that there has never been anything like this Osaka Troupe in Auckland before. There is something quaintly oriental in the selection of their feats that gives a certain piquancy, but irrespective of this there is a genuine dexterity in their jugglery, and a daring and seeming impossibility in their acrobatic and other performances surpassing belief. If the iad All Right has any bones in his body, they must- either have not advanced beyond the stage of "gristle" found in infancy, or they must have been all dislocated and strung together by the loosest possible connections. To-night the Osaka make their farewell bow in Auckland, after a highly successful season, and as they embark for Sydney to-morrow, we have no hesitation in saying that in the larger communities of the sister colonies they will create a. furore. But we would strongly urge those of our fellow-citizens who have not yet seen their performances to visit the City Hall to-night, for it is not likely that we shall for a long time seen again in this city anything like the feats of these singular foreigners.
