One minute to midnight I our hearts are quick beating, How sad is the \oy, yet how joyful the pain : One-minute to midnight! the moments arc; fleeting, Oh, who can recall them to being again ? Midnight I and the joy-bells peal forth from each steeple, Their jubilant chimes on the ear of the night. From the Queen on her throne to the least of her ■ people, May the past be still cherished, the future still bright.
