Tomohhow (Sunday) being 2s cw Year's Day, tl»n following days will be obserreJ a< a holiday, and the usual meaus of pleasure seeking will be placed at tliedispo*al of citizens. The. ]i'>yal Alfred and the L»olden Crown will both go to W"aiwora and Island of Kawaa, and as the former boat is such a favorite, aid the latter beautiful and commodious steamer is to make her first regular excursion we liavc no doubt that crowds will thro up to the Kotsprings and to Sir George Grey's island if this melancholy weather will only alter and give the public an opportunity of breathing the delightful sea breezes for a day. The annual races being on Mon lay. and continuing next day will be hiiihly attractive to all lovers of hor.-es fl«>sh ; while the Cnledonian Games at Neiv market will draw crowd not only of these from the. Land o'Onkes, but of all those who delight in athletic exercises. There will doubtless bo the unial cro-vd-« at the North Shore, and the domain, an C're morne Gardens will present a very Jtre.'it attraction lo those who admire ICnglish sports, calisthenics. In the evening the Japanese troupe will volume iiirir wonderful exhibiton at thn City Hall, while JCerr and Mrs. Bandmnnn will give n treat to all lovers of good acling, at the Theatre Royal. Altogether those who wish to in'iu^urate the new year with enjoyment and happiness will have abundant opportunity, and we trust that for once the cleric of the weather will relent, and contribute to the happiness of the holiday.
