SUPPOSED LOSS OF THE "JAPAN."

Fbom information received at Russell, by Mrs. Barker, the wife of Captain Barker of the whaling barque Japan, it is feared that that vessel has become a total wreck at Behring Straits. The Japan was caught in a very severe gale off Cape East, in company with two others, which succeeded in reaching Honolulu in safety. The Japan has not since been heard of. It is possible that if the vessel was wrecked the crew were saved in the bouts. Many of the rrew belonged to the Bay of Islands, some leaving wives and families.
