FREEMASONRY.
Yesterday at " high noon" a meeting of the Lodge Ara was held at the Masonic Hotel, Bro. Pierce, P.G.M, under the Grand Lodge of Ireland, presiding, when Bro. the Rev. R. Kidd, LL.D., was duly installed W.M., with all the usual interesting and impressive ceremonies, by Bro. Jenkins, P.M. The following brethren, who have been elected to office, should have been invested, but owing the absence of most of them at this holiday season, that portion of the ceremony was postpone 1. llro. Russell, S.W.; Bro. Asher, J.W.j Bro. Wntling, S.D.; Bro. Eastwood, JD.jand Bro. Avoy, I.G. Bros. Hooper, D.P.G.M., and Layers were re-elected treasurer and secretary, and Bro Porter, tyler. The usual banquet was dispensed with, on a 'count of the recent domestic bereavement in the family of the respected W.M.
In the evening the members of the United Service Lodge met at the same place. Bro. Doull having been re-elected W.M. continues in occupation of his chair, and invested the brethren who had b en duly elected to theL respective offices : —Bro. Rees, S.W. ; Bro. Welsdcn, J.W. ; Bro. Mclntyrc, S.D. ; Bro. Palmer, J.D. ; Bro. Chalmers, I.G. ; and Bro. Maeready secretary and treasurer. Bro. Deanc was re elected chaplain, aud Bio. Porter Tyler.
To-day being St. John's Day, the brethren of the Lodge of Light, together with a number of visiting brethren, met at the Masonic Hall, Pollen-street, for the installation of the officers elect for the ensuing six months. After the usual preliminary business had been disposM of, the installations took place us follow :— Worshipful Master, Bro. C. Walnutt; Senior Warden, Bro. Francis Lipsey ; Junior Warden, Bro. James Hopcraft; Senior Deacon, Brj. Bernhard Ballin; Junior Deacon, Bro. J. O. Jones; Inner Guard, Bro. William Laird; Treasurer, Bro. P. M. Fitzgibbon; Secretary, Bro. A. W. Jones; Chaplain, Bro. li. W. Loveday ; Tyler, Bro. Ross.—Thames Evening Star, December 27.
