December 2.—ln the Council to-night, Clarke moves the reply to the Superintendent's Message No. 3. J't is couchel *in very insulting lang age, and attributes to the Superintendent mauy attempts to over-ride the constitution, that show* a desire to check the free action of the Council. If it be carried, a crisis is likely to occur.—At a public meeting, held at Port Chalmers on Wednesday, resolutions approving of the General Government, scheme, and condemnatory of the action of the Council and Provincial Government were carritd.— On dit that a demonstration will be got up in honor of Mr. Vogel at the Port. —A further public trial of the road steamer lip,- been highly successful. A company is being formed for their employmont in country passenger t.affic.
