Wednesday afternoon
Mr. G-. W. Binney held a sale to-day, at his Auction Mart, Queen -street. There was a large attendance, and the bidding very spirited. The following were the prices realised :— Candied peel, Is 3£d per lb.; rice, 3£d ; cocoa, Is 3id ; confectionery, 7il ; plaid vestas, 7s 4d per gross; figs, 7j4 per lb. ; caator oil (pints), 8s 3d per doz. ; oatmeal, £18 per ton ; Hennessy's pale brandy, 7s lOd per gallon, in bond ; dark ditto, 6s 8d; port wine, 5a ; Tennant's ale, 11s 4d per dozen, duty paid. Mr. Stannus Jones sold at his auction mart to-day an allotment of land and six-roomed dwelling-house erected thereon, situated in Chapel-street, for £186. Messrs. C. Arthur and Son haM a sale of produce, geoceries, and household furnituee. There was a good attendance, and fair prices were realised.
