NELSON.
November 21.—The Supreme Court opened to-day. The calendar is light. The Judge, in addressing the grand jury, said that the cases of embezzlement of public funds were very frequent, but that, considering the large number of ofEeers entrusted with moneys, statistics would show that the proportion of officers was abnormal. The cases were trivial, except that of Harris, for embezzling provincial funds and for various acts of forgery. His trial comes on to-morrow, when it is expected he will plead guilty.—The country is suffering severely from long drought; crops of all kinds are in great danger.
