Nov. 15.—The charge of embezzlement
against Mr. Haddock, solicitor, has been withdrawn, and the prosecutor, Mr. G-leeson,. , stands charged with malicious p"osecation.:— The Provincial Council has been opened.—The-Attorney-General states that, the amended Ordinance giving twenty years' guarantee t6" the projected Clutha railway, in; compliance • with the offer made by Captain Cootes to the- . Provincial Government, is ultra, vires, anJ therefore disallowed. —At Iverson's Eeef, Conroy's 0-ully, a rich leader has been struck, which, it is believed, will give a yield of ten ounces to the ton. . ■
