WELLINGTON.
November 14.—Dr. Featherston has_ ent out a proclamation calling the Provicial Council together on Nov. 25.—An absurdreport was circulated in town to-day abot a fire having been discovered on board he Electra yesterday. The real facts of the ise are as follows:—Mr. Ames, when wal.ai_r along the outer T of the wharf _ yestermorning, observed a fire smouldering urier the end of one of the loose planks which tv so common on the wharf. It appeared asif icaused by a match having been careledy
dropped so as to ignite . the rubbish accumulated between the planking. The burnine plank was about midway between the berths occupied by the Electra and the Tararua, and with a pannikin full of water obtained from the latter vessel, Mi\ Ames very "quickly extinguished the fire.--The following! persons have been appointed to act as interpreters under " The Native Lands Act, 1856," and " The Native Lands Aco, 1867 ;" the certificates to bear date the Ist day of August. 1870:— E. S. Maun sell, of Wairarapa ; C. De Thierry, of Auckland ; G-. W. Woon, of Auckland ; A. Warbriek, of Tauranga ; J. H. Greenway, of Russell; H. E. Williams, of Auckland ; H. W Brabant, of Raglan. With regard to interpreters' fees, an erratum is pointed out in the Gazette of the 11th October, No. 56, p. 512. The first line of the scale should read—lnterpreters' fees (per diem), £2 2s. ■
