VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The members of Nos. 3 and 4 Companies Auckland Rifle Volunteers proceeded to the Butts, Point Chevalier, yesterday morning, in command of Captain Derrom, for the preliminary prize firing. Private Dull 1 made the highest score of 45. To-day No. 5 Company will fire. The following is the complete score from the commencement of the firing :—

There was jits': evening a meeting of the officers ot the battalion at the Drill-shed, to taice into •consideration the question of the Volunteer clothing, which it is very desirable should be on an improved system as early as possible. Lieut.-Colouel Lyon was present. Some conversation took place expressive of the wish of the meeting that the clothing should bo changed as soon as possible, in order that the men may present as soldier-like an appearance as possible. After some discussion, the meeting was adjourned until Monday next.
