PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
A good deal of general business was transacted in the Provincial Council yesterday. Various questions were answered by the Executive regarding the Wardenship at the Thames, the Grammar School, Water to the Gold fields', Volunteers, &c.' Messages from the Superintendent were read, submitting the Highways and Education Bills ; also, recommending an address to the Governor, asking for> Water Supply at the Thames, wich which the Council expressed concurrence. The Harbour Bill was referred to a select committee. The motion for subsidising . a steamer to Mah'urangi, and making a road from Bay of Islands to Hokianga, were withdrawn. . , ■ - ;
