MINING ACCIDENT.
A tkry serious accident occurred about midnight on Thursday, in the Sunbeam claim, Waterfall Creek, Tararu. One of the miners named .Alex. Wilson was at work in the bottom of a winze 200 feet deep, sunk from the top level. He sent up the bucket, in which were placed blunt picks and other tools'requiring repairs. When the bucket was about half way up, the picks caught against.the'side, and the man at the top, in endeavouring to extricate it, pulled with all his might. The rope broke, and the bucket fell. Fortunately, Wilson heard it falling, and had time and presence of mind enough to ward it off with his arm, thus preventing it from striking him on the head, and killing him on the spot. He did not, however, escape uninjured. His head, arms, and legs, arc verj much bruised and cut, and a simple fracture of the right leg, just above the ankle,'is also amongst the injuries he has sustained. Wilson* was conveyed to the hospital by his mates yesterday morning, where he was made as comfortable as possible under the circumstances, and his wounds were attended to.
