Httnteb and If oian's Repobt.—^Horses.— '■ The market has been tolerably brisk during the past week. Good upstanding young horses meat with ready sale, but for inferior and weedy stock, and mares, the demand is not good. Staunch draught horses for exportation are sought after. The description offered at auction was generally inferior, but above the average number changed hands, and the bidding was more spirited than of late* Medium draught sold at from £16 to £22 7s 6d ; hacks, from £7 10i to £10 each. Cattle.—A moderate supply came forward, vendors being, unwilling to force thettf'on. the market ml the • face of the continued depression consequent on the dry weather and tightness of the money market. Good dairy cows at their;profit are. Htf.^^J^j"*' I^o?st, bub inferior and drycows are 'most difficult to "quit. Store stock have been penned in more limited numbers than of late, and prices receded from 10s to 14s per head. Eat beasts in adequate supply, but pnces, except for very priiife, ruled lower. We quote dairy cows from £7 to £12; dry cows, from £4 5s to £6 2s 6d } calves, from £1

5s to£2lss lid, and two-year, old steers from £4 12s 6d to £5 12s 6d each ; beef, from 30s to 42a 6d per lOOlbs. At Papakura, on Wednesday, there was a good muster of cattle, but Bcarcity of grass had a depressing effect on this as on the other markets, sellers being unwilling to submit to the reduction, consequently several lots were withdrawn, and the number, disposed of was not so large as would otherwise hare been the case. Sheep.—The market was moderately suppied. Transactions were restricted at about the rates previously current. Lambs in moderate supply, maintaining late quotations. Pigs plentiful, prices ruling very low. VICKEES AND ObCHAKD'S REPORT. —Business still continues inactive, and I have no transactions to record since last report in the standard securities. I have a few bank shares on hand at £14 10s., and am a buyer of Insurance shares, and also Union Sash and Door at £3. In gold milling share?, Shotovers have done at 11s ; Long Drives are £11 5s ; Caledonians, £11. Mr. Orchard having retired fiom the firm, consequent on his early departure for England, the business at 61, Queenstreet, will be carried on as before by the undersigned.
