Dbunkenness. —David Williams was fined ss. and costs, or to be imprisoned 24 houra.

Impounding- Act. —Thomas Ward, for allowing cattle to stray, was fined ss. and

costs. I Municipal Police Act.—John Cobim, for leaving his horse, and cart unguarded in v public°plaee, was'fined ss. arid, costs.

A Triviai .Case.—Mrs. Abrahams was charged with stealing pieces of wood to the value of Is.—Mr. Hesketh for the defence.— Jas. O'Neill, deposed :. I am a wheelwright in Albert-street. Defendant lives next door. Timber has been taken from mo for "the last three months. I watched on Thursday night. I saw defendant take an armful of wood, and take it iato the house. . Gave, information to the police. Found the. timber produced, it is vaiued at Is. I had seen her on Tuesday night taking some more timber (produced small fragments of old weatherboard).—To Mr. Hesketh : Part of it -was on my premises. Have seen Mrs. Abrahams take timber before; have given her some of the timber myself. She has been sick, as also .the child. I know nothing against her character besides.—To the Bench: On former occasions of seeing her taking the timber 1 had said nothing. Did not forbid her. Sergeant-*Jeffreys deposed \o having found the bits of timber in a cupboard. —To. Mr. Hesketh : The defendant's husband is very lats in returning from his work »t night.
