MEETING OF ELECTORS
Onk of the largest meetings that has been held in Auckland, took pl»ee last night, in the hall of the Mechanics' Institute, to hear the. Hon. Julius Vogpl iv addressing the elector* of City East. The hall wns ciammed in every part, large numbers cv wded round the windows outside, and around the building everyplace within reach of t'"'e speaker's voice. Th • chair was occupied by Mr. J, T. Boylan, nnd the meeting contained almost all persons of position and influence in the city. The speaker, who was constantly interrupted by warm and prolonged anplause, reviewed the whole policy of the Government of which he is a member, and the legislation effected last session of Parliament. After the candidate had been put through his " catechism" in the usiial manner, a vote of confidence in Mr. Vope\ as a representative of City East, was carried amid applause, which lasted for some minutes, only four persons having held up their hands in opposition. The usual thanks and cheering concluded the meeting.
