Messes. Cabey, Gilles, Hunter and Co.'s Report.—There has been a marked depression in the market, particularly in inferior stock. For good stamps there ha 3 been renewed enquiry. On Saturday, at aiiction, there was a good muster, but of inferior descriptions. Buyers of draught horses from the Thames were in attendance, but were indisposed to purchase on the terms offered by vendors, Hacks sold at from £7 to £10 ; draught horses, from £10 5s to £20. Cattle have again been brought forward in considerable numbers. The demand for, and value of, really well-bred is still sustained, but coarse and weedy stock it is almost impossible to quit, and sales, consequently, nominah Good dairj cows are in better request, although still slow of sale, at from £10 to £12 15s; yearlings and calves sold at from £2 5s to £3 15s ; eighteen months' old heifers and steers, £4 5s to £5 ; two-year-old steers, £6 2s 6d to £6 10s; three-year-old, from £7 5s to £7 17b 6d. Pat beasts have been penned in ample numbers and of first-rate quality, but an evident disinclination to purchase except for im nediate requirement was exhibited by the trade, 32s 6d per 100lbs. being the maximum price. Sheep—The market was moderately supplied, and met fair demand, but prices have receded, particularly for ship borne ; half-breds selling at from 13s 6d to 17s 6d. Pigs in short supply, and in good request, at 4d per Ib. Maetin Sholl's Report.—l have sold Bank of New Zealand shares at £15 ; Long Drives at £11 15s; Dauntless and Sink-to-Kise at 4s 6d ; Thames Gold Mining Company, £2 12s 6d • Shotovera, 103 to 10s 6d ; Moanatairis at 12s 9d ; and AH Nations, £2 17s. Demand for the following at quo'ations: —Bank of New Zealand, old or new, at a slight advance; New Zealand Insurance, £19 ; Shotovers, 10s ; Moanatairis, 11s 6d ; Dauntless and Sink-to-Rise, 4s ; Caledonians.at £9 10s. I have for sale—Long Drives at £11; Shotovers at 10s 6d ; Young Americans at 10s ; Inverness at 4s 3d ; Thames Gold Mining Company at £2 17s 6d ; and Caledonians at £11 10§.
Vickeksi and Ohoiiakd'b Report.—Business this week has been unusually dull, and void of interest, and with the exception of small parcels of Bank shares at £14 6s, cum div., and Insurance shares at £19, our transactions have been almost nominal. The following are about the prices prevailing in gold mining shares :— Long Drives, £11; Shotovers, 10s 6d ; Young Americans, 10a ; Inverness, 4s 3d; Belfast, 4s; Thames, £2 17s 6d ; Caledonians, £11; Junctions, 15s ; All Nations, £2 15s.
