Evening Stab Office. Friday afternoon,
.Mr. S. Jones held a sale of tea, sugar, tobacco, &c, at his mart, to-day, and obtained the following prices : —Mauritius sugars, 4Jd to 4 l-16d ; teas, chests, ' Constance,' 2s ; ditto, half-chests, ' Petrel/ Is 8d ; aromatic tobacco, 9£d to IOJd ; Champion's Vinegar, No. 24, 2s 7d ;■ sardines,quarters, 6^ 6d ; Brandon's candles, boxes, ll^d ; composite, ditto, ditto, ll£d ; Devoe's kerosene, 3s 3d; Otago soap, 23s ; Canterbury oats fetched 3s to 3s 6d.
* Mr. B. Tonks sold, ta-day, by order of the mortgagee, and to the mortgagee, lot 83, comprising two allotments in Cameron-street. The price has not transpired. Messrs. C. Arthur and Son held a sale of Wortherspoon's assorted confectionery, aridobtained fair prices.
Messrs. E. and 11. Isaacs held a sale of clothing, shirts, &0., in the estate of Mr. Hyman Joseph. The auctioneers report having received a good attendance of the trade, and spirited bidding. The"'Whtrliß-"of the goods advertised were sold without any exceptions. In addition to thos - advertised, a large parcel of other goods were quitted, the prices being as good at could be expected in the present state of .the trade; at the same time, a considerable loss was sustained by the vendors. Abovit £800 worth was sold.
