We observe that Mr. J. A. Pond, formerly pharmaceutical dispenser to Dr. 0. F. Fischer, has commenced a business on his own account in the premise* recently vacated by Mr. H. Kohn, jeweller, Queen-street. From MrPond's long experience with Dr. Fischer, the w^R-knowp'hpmoeopathist., -we feel justified iQ saying that all prescriptions entrusted to his care will be careful y and accurately prepared.
. We wish to draw attention to the new and highly serviceable style of ovens made by Mr. H. H. Smith, and noticed in another .column. They are smoke-consuming, and from various other qualifications adapting them to colonial -wants, they will, in all probability, command an extensive demand. Their peculiarities are deserving of inspection.
It is exceedingly gratifying to learn that the sum of £17 10s. 6d. will be to-morrow handed over to the funds of the Orphan Home, as the net proceeds of the late entertainment given by the Auckland Ethopian Troupe at the Music Hall.
The interminable inquiry Re Lipstine occupied his Honor the Chief Justice the Whole of yesterday in bankruptcy. The witness Cohen was examined by Mr. H'esketh for five hours on matters of account. At five o'clock the hearing was further adjourned to procure additional information. The further hearing will be resumed on the 21st inst.
It is notified that John Waddington Graves has become bankrupt.—William Amadis Surflen and John Wheeler King give notice of their intention to apply at an early sitting-day of the Supreme Court to pass their last examination, and receive their orders of discharge.
A meeting of the United Cricket Club will be held at the Club-room this evening.
A morning parade of the Volunteers living in Dedwood will be held every Thursday during the summer months in the paddock behind All Saints' Church.
Tenders for certain work are required by the MoUht Albert Highway Board.
The tarnsfer books of the All Nations Gold Mining Company will be closed from noon today .until noon on Friday, when a dividend of four-shillings per share will be payable.
