The Evening Star. FRIDA Y, SEPTEMBER 30, 1870.
Many will be sorry to hear that the favourite little sterraer Royal Alfred is about to leave this port. She wae purchased yesterday by a Southern gentleman, and it is rumoured thut she is intended to trade among the islands o^ the Fiji group. The ripid advance of these islands demands, we have no doubt, such intercommunication, and nothing could be more suitable than this nice little steamer for floating in and out through the coral reefs, and visiting the various settlements that are clustering together in those sunny seas.
The s.s. Alhambra arrived at Newcastle, from the Fijis, on the 19 th instant. Captain Cadell was a passenger by her.

The Maori Chief brought £325 instead of £150, and the Royal Alfred was purchased by a Southern gentleman for the sum of £1225, and not withdrawn at £1525 as reported. The terms of the sale were net cash on the fall of the hammer.
