NEW RUSH TO WAIKAKA.
A rush has taken place up the Waikaka Flat, near to the Shepherd's hut. There are at present thirteen Chinamen and eight Europeans working there, and have been granted an acre of ground per man. '1 he poorest of it is paying from 10s to 12s a day per man. There is a mile of ground in the locality which would pay well were it opened up. Barbary|s party are progressing rapidly with their tunnel. They average about 120 feet a week, and it is 1,100 feet long. If they could make any agreement with Green's party to run water in their race, they might expect, something good in return. The population here would be much larger if MTntyre would allow them to dig on his ground, but be turned some half-dozen off about a month ago. There are 24 miners on M'Nab's run, and one of them, named M'Phee, found a nugget weighing seventeen grains, the largest yet found on the Waikaka. Plenty more gold is to bo found, but tho digger is not allowed to take a horse with him when prospecting. This is a great, drawback to them, but ihe runholders seem to endeavor to place every obstacle in their way. M'Nab won't allow them to take water upon his run, and in every way tries to stop the diggers in their search for gold.— Bruce Herald, September 22.
