THE ENGLISH MAILS.

The s.s. City of Melbourne, with the English mail via San Irancisco, is expected to arrive here about Monday evening or Tuesday next. She left here on the 7th July, and would probably arrive at Honolulu on the 23rd. As the 24th would fall on Sunday she would, no doubt, be detained until the 25th, and, giving her sixteen to make the return passage, she should arrive here as above. There is every reason to believe that the Suez mail will be received here promptly this month, as two steamers will be leaving Sydney about the time of the arrival of the mail steamer there. The Hero is announced to leave on the 6th, but would probably wait a few hours for the mail, If not, the Auckland would be leaving about the Bth, so that in any case our mail will not be left in Sydney for several day* as on last occasion.
