The p.s. Comerang left for Auckland via Poverty Bay to-day, with 10 rams, 7 horses, and sundries. The schooner Strathnavar from Auckland, with timber, arrived yesterday. The p.s. Luna arrived here to-day. - The station at Tapuaeharuru is now, we believe, open to the pubic. Very soon, it is clear, the line will be through to Tauranga, the Thames, and Auckland. The schooner Elizabeth Curie, from Kuiapoi, while being towed in on Saturday evening struck on a bank in the river, but came off during this morning's tide. At 11 a.ni., however, she sank alongside the wharf. It is supposed that she must have sprung a leak while aground. Her cargo, which was all damaged, was discharged to-day. A boat from Okaiito, manned by five men, was upset while crossing the bar to-day, and two men, named John Brown and Henry Miller, were drowned. Miller'sbody has been picked up. Mayoralty took place to-day, when Mr. Bendix Hallensleiu and Mr. William Maclaren were nomhiiited fhe latter has no chance, aud was only nominated to make a contest. ■ LYTTELTON, June 20. Mr. Kelly, the burning of whose slacks wa. reported yesterday, has lost the whole of his grain,.amounting to over 700 bushels of oats aud barley. TAPUAEHARURU, July 18. Tongariro has ceased blazing, but smokes at intervals. The side of the cone towards the north-west has fallen iv, and a now outlet has burst out nearer Rotoaira, which appears to be more active, than the old one. There is a great quantity of snow on the ranges. The meeting with natives at Tapuaeharuru is stilt going on; all the Taupo natives aie present. .
