MURDER OF A- MAN AND WIFE.

A dofbive murder ;s reported by the New York papers. On the night of the 20th March, th« charred remains of a man named Lunger and bis wife, residing at Ulysses, Tompkius County, were found in the ruins of their hou3o which had been burned down. . The ukull of the man exhibited a fracture, and it wus discovered that his daughter and a nun named Ferguson were missing. The girl was traced to an hotel in Pony Hollow, Schuyler County, where tho man had left her. She said that Ferguson came to the house on the Sunday night, and murdered her father aud mother witli an axe whilst they wei-o in bed. He then set fire to the house, and compelled the girl to go with him. Love for tho girl and tho oposition of the parents is said to have been the cause of the crime. Ferguson has been arrested in Pennsylvania, and is i:ow awaitinjj his trial.
