PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.
Last night we were glad to see Barry O'Weil have such, an excellent house for his benefit, the theatre being well filled in every part. Mr. O'Neil appeared in a new character before an Auckland public, viz., that of an actor, as Plumper in "Cool as a Cucumber." We have seen (he part played ve"y much worse, and we have seen it better, but we think that with plenty of practice, Mr. O'Neil would become a very good Irish comedian. He is more at home in his singing, and this last night was enjoyable, he singing several new songs. He afterwards appeared as Paddy Miles, in which he seemed more at home, singing two capital songs. Mr. Stuart O'Brien appeared in a very pretty musical gtm, entitled Monsieur Jacques, and played remarkably well. It is in these parts we like this gentleman, and should like to see him often in such parts. To-night the great sensational play of " Under the Gaslight" will be produced with new scenery and effects.
