Friday, May 13,

Tricker was released this afternoon from the Wellington gaol, and sails per s.s. Wanganui, for Wanganui, this evening. There has been no further news received of the p s. Charles Edward. Messrs. Collie, Pharazyn and Rhodes sailed yesterday for Melbourne. They have pledged themselves to use their utmost endeavours to interest the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce in tbe establishment of the new mail route.

Mr. Fox addressed a large public meeting at Christchurch last night, and had an excellent reception. He spoke for an hour and a half, his speech being practically the same as that recently delivered at Dunedin. A vote of thanks was accorded to him at the close.

Anti-Mormon meetings have been held in Wellington. The inquest on the late fire resulted in the following verdict : —" That there was no evidence to show how the fire originated."
