POLICE COURT.—Wednesday.
(Before J. Naughton, Esq , J.P.) DBTTNKENNESS. John Moyles, charged with this offence, and not appearing, forfeited bail. CBTJELTY TO ANIMAIS. Luke O'Brien was charged by George M'Caslan with a breach of the Municipal Police Act of 1866, by having, on the 15th December, 1869, been guilty of cruelly maltreating a horse at Auckland, the property pf his employer. The informant appearing,. stated that the principal witness had gone to England, so that there was no evidence adduced. Case dismissed. PEOTOKING liANGTTAGE. James Hill was charged by William Davidson with having used provoking language towards him on board tho ship Cantero, on the 10th May. Mr. Bennett appeared for.the defendant, and after consultation with defendant ■ and prosecutor, stated that as the defendant had expressed great regret for what had occurred, and promised to never repeat the offence, Captain Davidson desired'to withdraw the charge. Case dismissed accordingly. The Court then rose.
