Sir, —In your paper of the sth instant, I saw a leader touch ng iipon the decision given by the Bench at the Police Court, at times that shows a remarable leniency awarded to punishments. Our case was instanced in paint, and lam sorry it was. I Loped the lament d affair would soon be forgotten by others, not myself. .Now it comes out lam one of the men who sought the captain and demanded from him the remainder of the case of porter, which I deny, and positively assert I never entertained a single thought to do so. I do not wish to add insult to injury, neither can I be responsible for other men's actions, but Ido not wish this unfortunate case to appear blacker than it really is.
