INAUGURATION OF THE LODGE OF LIGHT.

The brethren of the " mystic tie" mustered in large numbers to day, at the St. George's Hall, Pollen street (Messrs. Cruickshank and Co.'s bonded store), for the purpose of inaugurating a Masonic Lodge at the Thames, under the " Irish Constitution," to be called the " Lodge of Light." Tho large hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion with evergreens and banners, interspersed with acacia branches and Masonic emblems of all nations. On tho floor of the room were placed the furniture and emblems, which, we understand, belong to the Alpha Lodge, Waikato, and at the upper end the pedestal of the Worshipful Master was placed. The pedestal of the Senior Warden was at the opposite end, while tho pedestal of the Junior Warden was midway at the left of the W.M. The installation' took place, according to usage, at noon, but we believe the procession was delayed for the arrival of the steamer Royal Alfred from Auckland, by which a number of visitors were expected. At the time of the installation there were about 36 visiting brethren from other lodges present, amongst whom were : —lrish Constitution : Gk P. Pierce, P.G-.M.; Dr. J. H. Hooper, D.P.G.M. ; C. Porter, P.G-.F.; A. Brock, W.M. Scotch Constitution;: A. Beveridge, D.P.GLM. ; Stephenson, P.M. English Constitution : A. McMath, W.M., Rev. Haywood, Chaplain Lodge Waitemata, and several other important officers. A portion of the hall was screened off, and hero Mr. Curtis, of the Pacific Hotel, made preparations for a brilliant spread for the visitors and members. The Brethren, headdd by a band, then marched in procession to St. Q-eorge's Church, where the Rev. R. Kidd was to preach a •ermon, and. a collection is made in aid of the Thames H6spital. A banquet is to be held this evening.— Mail, April 27.
