ARRIVAL OF THE 'STAR, OF THE SOUTH.'

LATEST FROM NAPIEE.

LATEST SOUTHERN TELEGRAMS.

SAFETY OF THE ' WILD DLCK.'

The steamer Star of the South, which arrived in harbour this morning, brings Napier papers to the 19th instant, containing later news. We extract the following : — WELLINGTON, April 18. The Wanganui contingent had a grand war dance to-day. They go home to-morrow per St. Kilda and Storni Bird. Mr. Collie is recovering. He will probably meet the merchants on Wednesday. NAPIER, April 19. The St. Eilda leaves Wellington to-day for Wanganui, with Kemp, Topia, and the Wanganui natives. On her return to Wellington she will proceed to Napier, to be at the disposal of the Government Agent. The s.s. Wellington will leave for Auckland on Friday, the 22nd inst. The weather continues showery, with occasional heavy falls of rain, from Wednesday last till yesterday morning, making the rivers pretty full, and reducing some of the roads to a frightful condition. The rainfall, as recorded in Napier during the last five days, was close upon three inches, but it is supposed that much more fell up the country, the rain having been more continuous there.

Capt. Renner reports the ketch Wild Duck, of Auckland, ■which has been on the rocks at Turanganui, is now off, and will soon be ready for sea. Her destination is Napier.
