CHINESE. AND JAPANESE CURIOS.
The choice aud valuable collection of Chinese Japanese curiosities, - recently imported by Messrs. Cruickshank, Smart and Co., were sold by auction this morning, by Mr. Jones, in the New City Hall, where the various articles had been on view for several days. The sale was largely attended by the principal merchants and a large number of ladies, and the prices obtained for most of the articles were satisfactory.
The following prices were realised for the articles enumerated -. —Red and white matting, B£d, 9d, and lOd ; chessmen, large, 29s ; ditto, small, 20s ; ivory card baskets, 445, 21s, 20s, 15s, and lis ; hand screens, 9s and 10s ; cribbage boards, 12s 6d and 8s 6d; cigar cases, Is; tea caddies, 14s to 345; work boxes, £3 to £3 17s 66.; blue china jars and stands, 255; curio vases and stands, 455; 8 pieces silk handkerchiefs —white, 12 each, 225; 4 pieces plain, ditto,.crimson, 10 each, 34s ; 8 pieces figured ditto, white, 10 each, 235; 4 pieces crimson silk ditto, 10 each, 235; sofas, 32s 6d, 335, and 42s 6d; 12 pieces silk dresses, 30s to 35s ; 1 magnificent silk shawl, £5 10s j 3 pieces imitation pine silk, 26s|each ; Japanese screenery, 25s to 28s.
