AMUSEMENTS.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH THEATRE. ! Tae re-opening of this pTace of amusement, with new faces, was deserving of better public patronage than it received last night. The paucity of numbers, especially in the dress circle,.is, perhaps, to an extent, accounted for by the lateness of the hour of the return ofthe excursion boats, and the re-action from the dissipation of the day. " Milky White" and "Bachelors' Buttons" were well presented and favourably received, but we think that certain expressions of double entendre could, with advantage to the performance, be fairly omitted. We trust the hint, " kindly meant will be ■ kindly taken" by the new regime. The rej opening of this little theatre is a plucky ven- [ ture, and we wish it every success.
