SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON THE WHARF.

A serious accident occured at the whail shortly after two o'clock yesterday afternoon by which a man named Peter Kellen sustained very severe injuries to the head. Kellen belongs to the ship Inflexible, lung alongside the outer T, and was going on board that vessel at the time stated, when while passing from the wharf to the ship, his foot slipped and he fell into the water, striking his head against the piles of the wharf with such force as to render him perfectly insensible. His mates speedily came to his assistance, and he was very soon rescued from the water, and at once conveyed to the Eos pital in a cab. His wounds were there at" tended to, and pronounced to be severe, but not dangerous, and he will probably be able to leave the Hospital in a day or two, though it may be a week or two before he is able to resume his duties in the ship.
