ONEHUNGA.

Some new aiid very commodious pre. mises have lately been erected at OnehnngabyMessrs. A. and G.Price, engineers, &c, who have become extensively known, throughout the colony by the large and increasing number of much improved 1 flaxdressing machines, which they supply I to all partis. The piece of ground on I which these buildings are erected, is about I one and half acres in extent, and fronts to 1 Queen-street, near the Government wharf, j the back of the ground being bounded 1 by the Mauukau. Immediately on the left of the entrance gates is a large twostore/ building, 65 feet long by 26 feet I wide, The lower floor is occupied as a I machine-fitting and engineer's shop, the I various lathes, <S'c, being driven' by I steam power. The upper floot of this I building is used as a carpenters' shop, . ; where the great variety of patterns , required for the castings are made, || and also all the woodwork for frames, presses, &c. Adjoining this building, 1 at the back, is the boiler and engine-rooni, 1 and a lofty chimney shaft; the engine is an eight horse-power vertical one. A[l few feet removed from the main building is the foundry, which is a large onestorey erection, sixty feet by twenty-four feet, and fitted up with a forge and bras! casting furnace—the larger castings are run in a blast furnace erected in the open, - which is capable of producing at one time enough molten metal for a cast of one , ton. The buildings have been all built in a most substantial and complete manner by the,carpenters employed by the firm, and under their own direction. They are roofed with corrugated iron, ji and every precaution has been taken M against fire. About twenty.three mta |i are at present employed in the various E branches of this business, and most of them are skilled mechanics. The (premises are well worth a visit from anyone interested in what bids fair to becomeore of the staple industries of the colony.
