ANOTHER AWFULLY SUDDEN DEATH.—THIS DAY.
Anotitek awfully sudden death took place at an early hour this morning, the deceased being a man named William Hammond, a native of Durham, about 57 years of age. It appears that he lodged near Evinson's Caledonian Hotel, Symonds-street, but he was occasionally in the habit of staying at the hotel. He was a labouring man, and was wont to do odd jobs for the landlord now and again, and sometimes he would sleep in the stable attached to the back of the house. He was cmpldyod about the place yesterday, aud retired to rest in the stable at a labe hour last ■ night. At an early hour this morning he was discovered lying ou some straw and quite dead. He was a man of good general robust health, and was formerly a soldier in the 65th Regt.,' but on the departure orwfchat regiment from the colony he.f elected to lake his choice and remain behind, and since that time he has been-laboring in various ways to gain a living. On the discdvery of fclia dead'body, Constable Green was at once communicated with, and a medical man was sent for, but the services of the latter wero of course useless. The coroner was then communicated with, and the inquest fixed for two o'clock. >
