FATAL ACCIDENT.

A Serious accident occurred at Port Charles, about 10 a.m., on the 31st ult., whereby James Toulmie met his death, together with Lcuis Kingston being seriously injured. Both men were in the employ of Messrs. Bustret and Dodgeson, bush contractors. It appears that Dogdeson, Touli.ie, and Kingston were en- , gaged removing a log; the log slipped, catching Toulmie on the head and smashing his skull j death was instantaneous. Kingston escaped with some serious bruises. The Constable submitted the information to Captain Fraser, and that gentleman directed him to the District Coroner, The Coroner gave instructions that the man Baker was to return and bring all the information in writing that was possible, and then he would give an order to have the body buried. Port Charles is 40 miles ffora Coromandel. The deceased is a native of New South Wales, 24 years of Bge, 5 feet lQi inches high. His property consists as follows : Fourteen days' wages, quarter share in the G-olden Belt claim (Coro-, maudel), a quartgr share in the G-olden Eagle ditto, and a quarter share in the Prince Imperial ditto. — Evening Mail, April 6.
